On March 26th, we came together for a dynamic and collaborative Stakeholders Focus group to evaluate the Strategic Master Plan for the Pedieos River.
Building on the outcomes of the July 2024 focus group and the recent spatial analysis conducted by SURF Lab as part of the Twin2Expand project, implementing evidence-based methodologies for urban planning and design, the session focused on mapping and highlighting areas within the Master Plan that require urgent attention, guided by the key challenges and themes identified so far.
The day included:
• A detailed presentation of findings by @Ilaria Geddes and @Walid Abdeldayem (SURF Lab)
• An engaging exhibition walk showcasing work from the June 2024 summer school
• A structured focus group discussion facilitated by @Christina Panayi, @Michalis Psaras, and @Marina Pasia
Through ideation, prioritization, and participatory mapping, the group identified areas with the greatest impact and those requiring reconsideration. The session concluded with a collective discussion to confirm spatial priorities moving forward.
Key collaborations:
Participants included residents, architects, and representatives from:
• Cyprus Confederation Organisation of the Disabled (CCOD)
• Nicosia Inter-municipal Development Company (DAEL)
• Thiasos Architecture Studio (Θίασος)
• Agioi Omologites Elementary School
• OPU – Organisation for Positive Urbanism
• The Cyprus Institute
• Strovolos Municipality
Stakeholders worked in two thematic groups:

This workshop was a strong example of collaborative planning in action, bringing together a diverse network of voices to reflect on research findings, co-create knowledge, and deliver evidence-based input to planning authorities.
A huge thank you to all participants and partners for their insight, energy, and commitment to shaping a better future for the Pedieos linear park.
