Training on Impact in EU Funded Projects

The final TWIN2EXPAND Research Management Training took place at the SURF Lab on 27 May 2025 and was led by Valentina Romano from the Polytechnic University of Turin. The training focused on the importance of impact in EU-funded projects, with a particular emphasis on how impact is defined, assessed, and measured at both the programme and project levels within the EU funding landscape. Participants gained insights into the European Commission’s approach to impact assessment, particularly in the context of Horizon Europe.

The session featured a hands-on, practical component, during which participants analyzed a real Horizon Europe call for proposals to understand how impact is embedded and evaluated in the call text. The training also provided detailed guidance on how to prepare a collaborative project proposal, with a specific focus on the structure and content of the Horizon Europe proposal template—including Excellence, Impact, and Implementation sections.

The training was attended by UCY staff members from the SURF Lab, the Department of Social and Political Sciences, the Department of History and Archaeology, the Department of Law, the Research and Innovation Support Service, and the Phaethon Centre of Excellence.
